This Cells Unit is focused on how the structures of organisms contribute to life’s functions.  This includes evidence that living things are made of cells, the functions of different parts of a cell, how cells make and store energy, and how groups of cells interact to form a body system,

This Heredity Unit is focused on how organisms grow, develop, and reproduce.  This includes how organisms grow in size, how characteristics of living things are passed on through generations, the advantages and disadvantages for sexual and asexual reproduction, and how cells become specialized for specific functions.  

This Diversity Unit is focused on how organisms are classified, the diversity and adaptations of life and what can cause extinctions.

This Interactions Unit is focused on developing an understanding of the interdependence of the variety of populations, communities and ecosystems. This includes an understanding of different types of interdependence and that biotic (living) and abiotic (non-living) factors affect the balance of an ecosystem. 

This Plants Unit is focused on how organisms obtain and use the matter and energy they need to live and grow.
