Student FSA ID:
Visit fsaid.ed.gov
Fill out the requested information. You may only have 1 FSA ID account with a social security number and date of birth.
Open your email to retrieve secure code (####) to verify your email address.
Insert secure code into FSA ID portal (I recommend that you also enter your cell phone number when given the option, and “verify” your cell phone as well, so that you can receive text messages if you ever need to reset the password). Once you receive the “You can now use your FSA ID username and password to log into FSA websites and applications” message you will be able to use your FSA ID to complete your FAFSA.
Parent FSA ID:
Visit fsaid.ed.gov and follow the same directions as above for the parent account.
** Only create one if one of your parents has a valid social security number; you cannot use the ITIN in place of the social security number. The ITIN usually begins with a 9**
