Digital course materials are accessed through Canvas.
If your instructor selected a textbook-only option:
Your digital textbook can be accessed through the VitalSource link located on the left-hand side of your Canvas course. (See Image 1.) Once you click the VitalSource Course Materials link simply click read now and get started reading.
If your instructor selected courseware with the textbook:
The way you access your materials will depend on how your instructor has set up their Canvas course. Your courseware may be:
Linked on the left-hand side of your Canvas course (See Image 2.)
Built directly into your course modules (See Image 3.)

If you are having trouble accessing your digital materials, try these steps first:
1. Use your Western email address
When creating an account or logging in to VitalSource or another publisher website, always use your Western Wyoming College email address.
Your Western Email should be your firstnamelastname@westernwyoming.edu (ex: mavrickmustang@westernwyoming.edu)
2. Try a different browser
We recommend using Google Chrome, as it works best with many of our digital materials. Other browsers, such as Safari, may block or restrict external links needed to access your materials.
3. Make sure you are using the correct Western account
Be sure you are logged in with the same Western account and email address associated with your course. Using a different account or email address may prevent you from accessing your digital materials.
If you do not wish to use the digital materials provided through Inclusive Access, you have the option to opt out. Before opting out, please keep the following in mind:
If your professor uses courseware:
We recommend staying opted in if your course uses courseware, as you will need access to the courseware to complete your coursework, assignments, quizzes, or other required activities.
If your professor uses a textbook-only option:
We recommend making sure you have another way to obtain the required course materials before opting out.
Click the VitalSource Course Materials link in Canvas
The opt-out button will be below the title of the material
Click the opt-out button and complete the following prompts to successfully opt-out
Full-Semester Classes:
Students have until the Drop/Add deadline to opt out. Reminder emails will be sent before the deadline.
Block Classes:
Students have one week from the start of the class to opt out. Reminder emails will be sent before the deadline.
If you do not opt-out within this timeframe, you are REQUIRED to pay for the course materials
Important: Once you opt out, your access to the digital materials provided through Inclusive Access will be removed. You will be responsible for obtaining any required course materials and/or courseware on your own.
Students are automatically billed for Inclusive Access (IA) course materials when they register for a class that uses the program.
The charge will appear on your student account as a Bookstore Charge (see below).
You do not need to purchase the materials separately through the bookstore unless otherwise stated in the course syllabus. Once you are registered for the course, the cost of the required IA materials is automatically added to your account.
If you opt out of the IA program before the deadline, the charge for those materials will be removed from your account in 1-2 business days.
If you drop a class before the drop/add date that uses Inclusive Access (IA) materials, you will be automatically opted out of the IA materials for that course.
The Bookstore Charge will be removed from your student account within 1–2 business days after you drop the class.
No additional action is required on your part. If the charge has not been removed after 1–2 business days, please contact the Western Wyoming College Bookstore for assistance.
