Can I submit to Frontier if I'm not a UOW student?
Yes! Students or alumni from UOW or other universities are welcome to submit articles.
Can I submit a past essay?
Past essays are accepted so long as they are within the word limit of 1000-4500 words, relate to the main topic, be submitted in a Word document (.doc, .docx), and include proper referencing and a title.
I'm a first year. Can I submit an article or apply for the Editorial Board?
First years can submit articles, but editors must be in their second year or above, as the position requires more experience with writing academic material at a university level.
What should I include in my cover letter for the Editorial Board application?
Touch on academic performance, your experience and personal qualities that make you stand out as a candidate. Important aspects for you to go over include:
why you in particular are the best choice for a place on the board,
why you have chosen to apply,
what you will bring to the position, and
what you believe the position can do for you in your career.
What should I include in my submission for the Editorial Board application?
Choose a submission that best reflects your writing ability, it should:
be similar in writing style to previous Frontier articles,
reflect a topic relevant to the journal, and
avoid submitting an unfinished paper and instead submit an amended shorter version to showcase your editing skills.
What am I being assessed on for the Editorial Board application?
Your personal qualities (E.G. passion for international affairs, specific topics of interest, aspirations for the future),
your level of ability to write on relevant PAIS/IR topics (creativity and originality in your arguments/academic written expression), and
how well you can commit to similar responsibilities for editors (E.G. ability to meet deadlines, teamwork and communication skills).
