Overview:
The Vice President is a key leadership role in the West Sand Lake Elementary PTA, providing essential support to the President and serving as a capable stand-in when needed. This position works closely with the board to coordinate activities, oversee projects, and ensure that PTA initiatives run smoothly. The Vice President also plays a hands-on role in events, communications, and administrative tasks that keep the PTA engaged and effective.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the President:
Serve as an aide to the President, assisting in planning and executing PTA activities, offering guidance on initiatives, and helping ensure the association meets its goals.Lead in the President’s Absence:
Preside over PTA board and general meetings when the President is unavailable, representing the PTA in official capacities.Facilitate Event Planning & Fundraising:
Chair and coordinate fundraising events such as Panera Nights, Bowling Fundraisers, Chicken BBQs, and Roller Skating events. Collaborate with volunteers and committees to ensure events are well-organized and successful.Oversee Volunteer Coordination Tools:
Create and manage Sign Up Genius forms for volunteer sign-ups and event coordination.Financial Oversight:
Be authorized to sign off on checks and meet with the bank to have your name added to the PTA account, ensuring proper financial accountability.Collaborate with the Board:
Work with board members to prepare meeting agendas, review projects, and address the needs of the PTA and school community.Follow Unit Procedures:
Fulfill any additional duties assigned according to PTA bylaws and board decisions, maintaining flexibility to assist in various areas as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong leadership and organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers, staff, and the community
Public speaking and meeting facilitation experience
Event planning and coordination skills
Basic financial understanding for check signing and budget oversight
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Must be at least 18 years of age to perform presidential duties
