Position Title: President
Organization: West Sand Lake Elementary PTA
Overview:
The President is the chief executive officer of the West Sand Lake Elementary PTA, responsible for leading the organization, fostering collaboration among board members, and ensuring the PTA’s goals are met. This role serves as the primary representative of the PTA to the school, community, and district, providing leadership, guidance, and oversight in all areas of PTA operation. The President ensures meetings run smoothly, maintains strong partnerships, and helps create a welcoming environment where families feel engaged and supported.
Key Responsibilities:
Presiding Officer:
Chair both board and general membership meetings, set meeting agendas, and ensure meetings are conducted efficiently and in accordance with PTA bylaws.Executive Board Coordination:
Work closely with the executive board to plan, implement, and evaluate PTA programs and initiatives. Provide leadership, support, and encouragement to all officers and committee chairs. Serve as an authorized signer for PTA checks, contracts, and payment authorizations.Committee Oversight:
Act as an ex officio member of all committees (except the nominating committee), offering guidance, encouragement, and assistance to committee chairs to help achieve event and program goals.Communication:
Maintain open and consistent communication with the executive board, school administration, faculty, families, and community partners. Ensure key information is shared in a timely manner.Liaison:
Serve as the bridge between the PTA and school administration, fostering a positive and collaborative working relationship that benefits the entire school community.Policy & Bylaw Compliance:
Ensure the PTA operates in accordance with its bylaws, standing rules, and relevant district, state, and national PTA policies.Family Engagement:
Lead efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all families, encouraging involvement and building a strong school community.

Ability to motivate and work collaboratively with a diverse group of volunteers and stakeholders
Confidence in public speaking and leading meetings
Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Willingness to dedicate time to meetings, events, and PTA planning throughout the year
