What does the PTA do?

The PTA is all about making school more fun and enriching for our kids. We organize events like the Fun Run, Snowball Bash, Ice Cream Socials, Book Fairs and the Read Program. We also raise funds to support things like:

Why should I join the PTA?

Joining the PTA isn't just about supporting the school- it's about showing your child that you are about their education and what to be involved in their school experience. When you get involved, you also get the chance to meet other parents, stay in the loop on what's going on at West Sand Lake Elementary, and set a great example for your kids about the impirtance of giving back to the community. Plus, it's a lot of fun, and you get to be a part of making school a better place for everyone!

How do I join the PTA and what is the cost?

Joining is easy! Just visit the PTA page, click on Membership and click on Join

What happens to the dues we pay for PTA?

Your dues help keep things running smoothly. A porting goes to covering insurance (so we can host events), Rest supports our National, State, and local PTA networks that provide guidence and support. What is left goes directly to funding programs and activities that benefit our kids at West Sand Lake.

How does the PTA raise money?

We raise money in a few ways:

May I attend PTA events if I don't join?

Of course! While we hope you'll join the PTA to help support our mission, all parents are welcome to attend events. Plus, PTA members enjoy discounts on tickets and special offers throughout the year- another great reason to join!

How do I become involved?

We'd love for you to be involved! You can get in touch with us by emailing the PTA at: wslpta12196@gmail.com

Do I have to come to school to volunteer?

Nope! While we'd love to see you at school events, there are plenty of ways to volunteer from home too. You could help by putting packets together, coordinating projects, or assisting with tasks that can be done remotely.

Can I only volunteer once in a while without being pressured to volunteer for future events?

Absolutely! There's no pressure at all. Whether you can spare 5 minutes or 50, we're grateful for any time you can give. We appreciate your help, no matter how often or how much you can volunteer.

When and where are the PTA Meetings?

PTA meetings are typically helped in the school library at 6:30 pm. The exact schedule will be announced on the PTA website, Facebook and via email- so keep an eye out for updated!

What happens at the PTA meetings?

Our PTA meetings are where we plan all our events and discuss important school updates. Each event or project needs a leader, and these meetings are the times when leaders share their plans, ask for feedback, and get input from our members. There are often votes to approve things, and we make sure everyone's voice is heard.
