Common mistakes made by students with reading comprehension:

Mistake #1- Reading something all the way through without taking any notes or summarizing.

This makes remembering what happened really difficult especially if the reading is many pages long. The fact is that the further into the reading without jotting down notes, questions, or summaries leads to loss of information and lack of overall understanding.

Mistake #2- Reading the questions first and then looking for them in reading text.

This is like playing "Where is Waldo" with your quiz/test. It forces you to only look for a specific thing and it causes you to miss a lot of unimportant information that you need while reading to fully understand what you are reading and it's significance.
