The goal and purpose of editing and revising is to make your writing more clear, direct, and purposeful to your reader/audience so they understand your point of view and do not get confused along the way.
Use the Grammarly program to check your work and edit your writing. The program is free to use and will make recommendations more than just your grammar and is essential for correcting errors before your final draft. There is a tutorial video below that you can watch to get familiar with the app.
In order for you to be an effective writer you need to constantly check and recheck your work comparing it with the checklist you made when unpacking a writing prompt and checking a rubric for the assignment if it is available.
You have probably learned in school how to edit your essay but haven't really been taught how to truly revise your essay. What is the difference? Editing focuses on the punctuation, spelling, and grammar of the writing while revision goes deeper to the overall flow and purpose of the writing to make it clearer and more meaningful.
