2024 Writers' Workshop Evaluation

We hope you have had an inspiring and meaningful week. Your feedback helps us continue to develop our program every year and we would be so grateful for your feedback. Please take a moment to complete the evaluation.

Welcome to the Writers' Workshop at Exeter

Welcome to the 2024 Writers' Workshop at Exeter. Here, you will find answers to many of your questions regarding the schedule, course groupings, uploaded readings, curriculum materials, and how to register for our featured speaker series. You will also find important logistical information such as check-in and check-out procedures, facility hours, details for trip night, and all things campus-related.

We suggest you review the Important Information section before arriving so that you will have a clear sense of how to get to campus and what you will need to do to register when you arrive. Check daily for updates, as they will be posted, and on the last day, you will find your conference evaluation posted in the curriculum materials. In the Schedule section, you will be linked to your Sched.com account. Please make sure you download the app and set up your account. You will be invited to the event page in the next few days.

We have a dynamic week ahead of us with Visiting Writers Paul Harding, Phillip B. Williams, Safia Elhillo & Guest Artist Jenifer Hixson. We will have the gift of listening to Harding, Williams, and Elhillo give a Keynote in the evenings. On Tuesday evening, we will have the wonderful opportunity to listen to colleagues/local writers Tim Horvath & Matt Miller read from their current work. In the mornings, Harding, Williams and Elhillo will lead us in a Craft Class. In the afternoons, we will have Writing Workshops with Tim and me. There will be time to write, to share prompts, to gather resources for teaching writing, to tinker on a 1931 typewriter inherited from my Great Uncle Irv. We will also aim to make time for one-on-one feedback and conversation. The week will conclude with a workshop by Jenifer Hixson, who will guide some of us in creating a Moth Story Hour piece to present on the final evening. Following the Moth Story Hour, we will hold our Annual Final Gathering of sharing & receiving a piece of writing with one another.
