Leadership is a value we hold close as Panhellenic members. Being a sorority woman provides opportunities to lead within individual chapters, on the Panhellenic Council, and across campus while connecting with inspiring women role models.
Our Panhellenic community has been nationally recognized with the NPC Excellence Award in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 for achievements in recruitment, academics, programming, community impact, and more. We also received Program of the Year from the Northeast Greek Leadership Association in 2014 for our substance-free initiatives.
Rho Lambda is the National Sorority Leadership Recognition Society, honoring sorority women who exemplify outstanding leadership, service, and academic achievement within the Greek and campus community.
Order of Omega is a National Honor Society that recognizes both sorority and fraternity members who demonstrate exceptional leadership, scholarship, and service, and who promote positive Greek unity across our campus.
Service is at the heart of our Panhellenic and Greek community. From weekly tutoring to city-wide events, our members are dedicated to giving back to Worcester and beyond.
In addition to our larger initiatives, we participate in projects like writing cards for UMass Memorial patients, making dog toys for the Worcester Animal Rescue League, and collaborating with groups such as Period@WPI and Friendly House to expand.
Since 2018, Panhellenic members have volunteered weekly at Elm Park Community School, providing academic support and mentorship to elementary students. This long-standing partnership, established by our Community Service Chair, has been recognized with the Coghlin Award for Service twice at WPI's Student Recognition Awards, highlighting its meaningful impact on both our members and the Worcester community.
Each fall, WPI fraternities and sororities host Work on Worcester, a city-wide day of service that engages over fifteen community partners. Students come together to complete projects across the city, strengthening connections and leaving a lasting impact. Free lunch and t-shirts are provided to all participants, making it a spirited and unifying start to the academic year.
Some of our community partners include:
Boys and Girls Club
Dodge Park Rest Home
Friendly House
Habitat for Humanity Greater Worcester ReStore
Veterans Inc.
Worcester Parks & Recreation Department
Worcester Tree Initiative
Panhellenic members are scholars and leaders in the classroom. Joining the Panhellenic community provides access to academic incentives such as study hours, scholarship plans, and personalized support through chapter positions dedicated to academic success and professional development. These roles help members set goals, stay accountable, and access resources tailored to their needs.
Our community also emphasizes the value of alumni connections. Sorority alumnae serve as mentors, offering guidance on career paths, internships, and graduate opportunities that help members excel beyond WPI. These networks create lasting support systems that extend far past college.
With this foundation, it’s no surprise that the Panhellenic community is among the top-performing student groups at WPI, boasting a 96.3% four-year graduation rate.
Once a sister, always a sister. Regardless of chapter affiliation, Panhellenic women support one another through every stage of the college journey and beyond. With 31% of WPI undergraduate women involved, our community is the largest group of women on campus, ensuring there is always someone to lean on.
Sisterhood within Panhellenic extends beyond individual chapters—our bonds are rooted in inter-chapter unity, collaboration, and shared experiences. These connections foster lifelong friendships and make WPI feel like a true home away from home.
