WPE DiaPhalt is a semi-flexible pavement combining the best properties of asphalt and UHPC concrete.
It is applied as an asphalt based wearing course that hardens to a matrix, in which the voids are filed with a WPE DiaPhalt mortar.
In this way, the WPE DiaPhalt system combines the flexibility and freedom from joints of asphalt with the excellent bearing capacity and high wear resistance of the WPE DiaPhalt concrete.

The pavement must be able to withstand these stresses. Bearing capacity and wear resistance are therefore especially important. For driving comfort and safety, the pavement should be joint-free and give good friction.
In countries with frequent temperature fluctuations, the pavement must be freeze-thaw resistant, which will contribute to low maintenance. Equally important, the pavement must be able to be rapidly installed and trafficked early, to maintain optimum production.
