Description: WPCTE Intellectual Freedom Advocates are WPCTE members who commit to:
Staying informed about intellectual freedom issues, especially in Western PA schools and libraries, through membership to an advocates-only listserv
Participating in WPCTE intellectual freedom focused events whenever possible, including book clubs, conference sessions, NCTE Book Rationale writing events, etc.
Connecting when possible with local libraries to support banned book week events or other events dedicated to young people’s Right to Read.
Consider participating in advocacy work including attending relevant school board meetings, writing letters to the editor, or reaching out to local legislators when intellectual freedom is at risk
