The Western Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of English (WPCTE) and the Western Pennsylvania Writing Project (WPWP) in the School of Education at The University of Pittsburgh are cosponsoring a spring conference with a theme focused on storytelling. This day-long conference is on Thursday, March 11, 2027 at The University of Pittsburgh. This event will feature informative, interactive, and trendsetting professional learning sessions. The post conference writing workshop will be held at the Carnegie Museum of Art.
This year’s theme, The Power of Story: Between the Lines and Beyond the Frame, invites us to think expansively about where stories live and what they make possible. We invite you to consider the lines students write, the meanings readers make between them, and the images or frames that ask us to imagine what exists beyond the page. We also invite you to think about the larger frameworks that shape how stories are taught, interpreted, and shared. What happens when stories move across forms, media, classrooms, and communities? What becomes possible when students are invited to tell, read, create, and reimagine stories in new ways?
