Recent Creation Articles

The following four articles lay the foundation as to why I believe the evidence for the Bible is very powerful. This is then followed by the most recent scientific articles related to this topic. (The outcome of this research is as follows - We need a new reformation. The first reformation returned the church to the importance of justification by faith not by works. This second reformation is a return to the understanding that we are created beings whose first obligation is obedience to our creator rather than self realisation or self gratification. The information contained in this website is an exploration of the intellectual justification for such a change and some tentative thoughts concerning the implications of such a change)

A detailed attempt to consider the dynamics of the flood as a geological event. (One area the article would like to see explored further is the possibility that much of the mudstone and shale found in the flood deposits comes from the erosion of the huge quantities of mudstone and shale that existed in the pre-flood rocks.)

The following extract gives a flavour of the issues this paper is considering:

In the context of a reasoned defense of the Genesis Flood there are several major features of the earth’s continental surface that cry out for explanation. First is the sheer volume of fossil-bearing sedimentary rock present there today. The volume is sufficient to cover the continental surface to an average depth of about 1800 m or about 1.1 mi. What was the source of this massive volume of sediment during the Flood’s short time span? Second is the location of this huge volume of sediment. It occurs on top of the continents, whose surface mostly lies above sea level. This raises the question, what sort of water process might conceivably emplace so much sediment above sea level on top of the land surface? A third issue has to do with the internal depositional characteristics of the sediment. Generally speaking, most of the sediment occurs as a vertical succession of horizontal layers, often with vast lateral extent. Such an orderly layer-cake pattern of laterally extensive strata is readily observed, for example, for the sediments exposed in the walls of the Grand Canyon. What sort of transport and depositional process could conceivably generate such uniform layers over such vast horizontal distances?

As expected the James Webb telescope shows that the stars that are thought to be furthest away seem to be complex and fully formed. This is what we would expect from a created universe where all stars and galaxies are created on day 4 but this is not the expectation of the Big Bang theory.

https://answersingenesis.org/astronomy/james-webb-space-telescope-distant-galaxies/  (August 2022)

https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-022-02056-5 (August 2022)

An interesting comment on the early results from the James Webb telescope by physicist Eric J Lerner (part of the following article Mind Matters News https://mindmatters.ai/2022/08/james-webb-space-telescope-shows-big-bang-didnt-happen-wait/ ). These comments by Eric Lerner indicate that the early data from the James Webb telescope is consistent with the stars and galaxies being created ex-nihilo rather than forming over millions of years.

To everyone who sees them, the new James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) images of the cosmos are beautifully awe-inspiring. But to most professional astronomers and cosmologists, they are also extremely surprising—not at all what was predicted by theory. In the flood of technical astronomical papers published online since July 12, the authors report again and again that the images show surprisingly many galaxies, galaxies that are surprisingly smooth, surprisingly small and surprisingly old. Lots of surprises, and not necessarily pleasant ones. One paper’s title begins with the candid exclamation: “Panic!”

Why do the JWST’s images inspire panic among cosmologists? And what theory’s predictions are they contradicting? The papers don’t actually say. The truth that these papers don’t report is that the hypothesis that the JWST’s images are blatantly and repeatedly contradicting is the Big Bang Hypothesis that the universe began 14 billion years ago in an incredibly hot, dense state and has been expanding ever since. Since that hypothesis has been defended for decades as unquestionable truth by the vast majority of cosmological theorists, the new data is causing these theorists to panic. “Right now I find myself lying awake at three in the morning,” says Alison Kirkpatrick, an astronomer at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, “and wondering if everything I’ve done is wrong.” (August 2022)

Alternative approach to geology and fossils

Barry Setterfield's ZPE (Zero Point Energy) approach to cosmology (see section in Creation videos) has interesting implications for radioactive decay which means the dates generated by radioactive decay can easily fit into a recent creation. He also explores an alternative approach to the earths geology that considers the flood as one of four recent worldwide catastrophes - the following article explains his position and I include it because I value keeping an open mind on issues where God has not spoken clearly on the matter. On balance I still prefer Michael Oard's analysis of the worlds topography as the by-product of the flood but I am intrigued by Barry Setterfield's arguments https://barrysetterfield.org/dinosaurs_and_humans/dinosaurs_and_humans.html (Aug 2023)

This article makes a strong case for reducing ancient Egyptian chronology by 250 years. Once that is done then the artefacts and archeology found in Jerusalem, Megiddo and Lachish fit well with what the Bible says about King Solomon. It is also consistent with the adjustment suggested by the authors of Centuries of Darkness, also it is consistent with David Rohl’s work and it is consistent with the contention of the DVD Patterns of Evidence which argues the exodus of the Israelites took place at the end of the 13th Dynasty.
