The City Council and Graffworks worked with the local community to design a new mural, which was painted on hoardings opposite the community centre. This was finished in September 2024.
It really helps to give our area a clear identity.
Our main hall now has a lovely new high-quality wood-effect vinyl floor which was installed in June 2022.
It replaces the old carpet and gives a much cleaner, more flexible space. Doesn't it look fantastic?
The room has a capacity of 50 - please contact us if you'd like to make a booking.
This work was made possible thanks to a generous grant from the National Lottery Community Fund.
After the fiasco over the plan for a 900 place primary school on the "Dumps" on Fosse Road North, a new proposal for a 1350 place 4 to 16 years free school has been put forward, on a site twice as big and managed by the Meads academy group. As of March 2023, a planning proposal has still not been submitted.
The site is contaminated and was going the cost the council £5 million to clear. The new proposal would see the government picking up the ongoing costs and funding for the new school. Work has not started on clearing the contamination.
