Meet Cosmo-D Edibles

Meet Queen Mar.

I'm a Cali girl transplanted directly from Perú. I have a deep love of cannabis, I've been using it to improve my life since I was nearly 18 and have dedicated myself to learning about the plant. I love to help others find the many ways it can possibly fit into their lives, my hope is to clarify any misconceptions on the plant and help those who need it most get educated on the subject.

I started with Cosmo D's Outrageous Edibles working events and doing promotional work in 2017. Currently, I'm their social media manager and photographer!

I also take on photography projects for other cannabis companies here in California. My goal is to work with small, reputable businesses in helping them spread brand awareness through visually striking, professional and personable content. While continuing to learn about cannabis and helping answer anyone's cannabis questions along the way.

What inspired you to get into the cannabis industry in California?

I was inspired to get into the cannabis industry back when I decided it was time to find myself and to start doing something meaningful with my life. I also wanted to connect with other like minded women, I wanted friends who loved weed as much as I do!

I took the dive into the world of cannabis since it had already been such a huge part of my life, I wanted to help people with the plant I love most. After helping myself with this plant, I realized there were a lot of people who could benefit from it and from a bit of cannabis education. There's a lot of eyes to open up out there a lot of ailments to be healed or soothed. I wanted to find where I fit in this massive community.

How has being a woman in the industry helped or hindered you?

As a woman I definitely feel like my start in the industry was rocky. Finding where I belonged was tricky. I started with what I knew: affiliate programs, I tried my hand at modeling then working events like High Times and Hempcon where eventually I realized how much I don't like dealing with so many people and what came with them. There was a lot of objectafication, sexual harassment and people being demanding of me, my time, my energy. Thanks to my little experience with photographers though, I became intrigued with the art of photography itself. I wanted to learn how they could create such beauty, beauty lost to the naked eye. I realized there was an opportunity to use my brains in an all new creative way and to take charge of my work, I wanted in! I began my journey on the other side of the lens.

With the help of my love of cannabis & knowledge of social media, adding a thirst for learning photography created the perfect trifecta for me to start doing the work I love most! I get to do what I love for companies and people that I value, love and admire.

3. What are your favourite edibles? & why?

My favorite edible is the new Solar S'mores bar from Cosmo D's Outrageous Edibles. I honestly have a deep love for all of Cosmo's Edibles due to their potency, consistency and most

of all taste. The Solar S'more however, are on an all new mind blowing level for me! I've been obsessed with all things s'mores my entire adult life, so this was a real game changer! They taste nothing like weed, making them super dangerous but thanks to the dosing chart you'll always know exactly how much you're consuming!

What's your advice to anyone looking to get into the cannabis industry in California?

My advice for anyone trying to get into the cannabis industry here in California is this: be passionate, consistent, professional, have integrity.

Find what you love to do most, learn it, study it, practice it, GO for it! Remember that we all start somewhere, no job or company is too small to possibly bring you endless opportunities. Build those relationships and nurture them.

Professionalism and accountability are so important, value your time and your clients'. And don't forget the classics, thank you notes (even virtual ones) and acts of kindness/gratitude go so far!

Knowledge truly is power, it's our biggest asset. Never stop learning, never stop practicing. Do research, talk to others in your line of work, take notes, find classes. The possibilities are endless when you have knowledge on what you're passionate about. Invest in yourself.

I just want to add one last thing I've learned and I think it particularly pertains to us powerful women in cannabis: support others, even if they are following a similar path. There is room for all of us in this massive industry. Nothing comes of bringing one another down, negativity or jealousy but there is such value in supporting one another, helping another and boosting each other up! Let us share in the positivity, love and knowledge- make this "man's world" our own!
