Coaches and Program Assistants

All of our programs are run by Skate Canada Professional Coaches. These coaches have gone through a training program run by the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).

DANIELLE S., HEAD Coach

I grew up skating with the Aurora Skating Club, where I worked hard to earn four Gold medal tests and my Diamond dances. I am a Regional Coach in the Skate Canada System with my NCCP level 1 training.

I have worked with 7 different clubs and companies, coaching figure skating and power skating all over the Greater Toronto Area and in the Annapolis Valley region.

I enjoy sharing my love of skating with others by showing them that anyone can improve with hard work and passion.

DAWSON M., Coach

I am a 21 year old 4th year Acadia Kinesiology student. I am from Nova Scotia, but started skating when I was 5 years old after moving to Happy Valley - Goose Bay, Labrador. I've had amazing experiences with my skating career including representing Nova Scotia in ice dance at the 2019 Canada Games in Red Deer, Alberta. I've also had amazing opportunities to be coached by some very high level and well respected coaches which, along with my passion for the sport, encouraged me to share my passion with a younger generation and start my coaching journey.

Our Pre-CanSkate and CanSkate programs have trained Program Assistants working with skaters and assisting the coaches who run the program. These PAs are volunteers and many of them attend Acadia University. Their skating backgrounds vary from competitive figure skaters, hockey players, and ringette players. They lead skaters through the warm-up and cool down and run the circuit stations that the skaters rotate through.
