If you use Windows Media Player 10 on Windows 10 or 11 and want to add a skin, then you may find a problem with it. Normally when you open a .wmz file (Windows Media Player Skin File) there would appear a pop-up, however for WMP10 on modern Windows, the file won't recognize it and would tell you to select a program to open this file. you try to open it with Windows Media Player but it open as unknown audio format.
There's no need to worry about it, there is other way you can add skin without clicking on it, the solution is quick and easy.
Locate the skin you downloaded.
Then copy or cut the skin, go to C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player or C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Player\Skins and paste the skin there.
Now check the properties of the skin file and find if there is a Security note on General tab under Attributes, it should be something like this:
"This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer."
Having not unblocked the skin and trying to apply on Windows Media Player 10Â won't work, you must unblock the file to get it working and re open the player if you had it open.
And voala! you should now have the skin with no issues.
