One way to grow as a leader is to present at professional conferences. To support you in this area, we are curating a list of conference presentation opportunities.
Inclusion in this list is not an endorsement from WLA or the School Library Division. These links are informational. If you know of an additional opportunity, please email Sarah Logan.
Northwest Council of Computer Educators (NCCE): Consider presenting a session at NCCE in Tacoma March 3-7. While NCCE is primarily an EdTech conference, they do seek sessions that are relevant to Teacher-Librarians, and not all sessions have to be high-tech. You can submit a session proposal here. It's a great opportunity to show non-librarians how working with librarians would benefit them. Proposals are due Sept. 15.
National Council of Teachers of Math (NCTM): The national conference is being held in Seattle March 17-19, 2027. Session proposals are due Aug. 15, so this is a tight turnaround!
Washington State Council for the Social Studies: Oct. 8-10, Spokane. Session proposals due Aug. 15.
Coming Soon: Washington Library Association conference, spring 2027.
Coming Soon: American Association of School Librarians conference in Portland, OR Oct. 14-16, 2027.
Need financial support to attend/present at a conference? The Washington State Library offers PD grants, which can be used to cover the cost of travel, hotel, and even substitutes (award capped at $1000).
Note: the Washington State Library is separate from the Washington Library Association. While we often partner with each other, WSL is a state agency. WLA is a professional organization and not a government agency.
