Why join?
The VEA is a powerful voice in Richmond and around the state advocating for better salaries, improved working conditions, and increased funding to provide quality schools for ALL Virginia students, regardless of their zip code.
Who can join?
VEA stands up for public education, Virginia’s students, and for education employees, and we welcome those who work in and for public schools. Our primary categories of membership are:
Active professional, such as classroom teachers or counselors;
Active education support professional, such as bus driver, paraprofessional, or cafeteria worker;
Student, meaning those enrolled in or preparing for a teacher education program;
Retired educators at least 45 years of age or eligible for a pension for a public education position. (Active members also may join as “Pre-Retired” members.)
As a member, you have:
A voice, the ability to make changes in education.
A community of support, thousands of educators who can help and support you.
A better skill set, through professional development and training.
A brighter future, as we advocate together.

Completing the Colonial Membership Application ensures your membership in the Williamsburg-James City Education Association, the Virginia Education Association, and the National Education Association.
