List of People at the Witches Cauldron
We are the people who spent our youth and young adulthood growing up in an around Hampstead, especially centred on the Witches Cauldron coffee bar.
The most important part of the Witches Years for us were the people, all our friends, acquaintances, relatives, girl friends, boyfriends, fellow party goers, fellow political protesters, and fellow seekers after truth, fun and the meaning of life.
This list is compiled from the memories of about a dozen survivers of that time. Many more people we hung around with have doubtless been left out. (D denotes deceased)
One of our friends, Roger Silverman, describes the list as follows:
What an amazing galaxy of genius: rogues, rebels, loonies, crooks, poets, artists, addicts, all brilliant characters in their own highly individual ways! A fascinating list. It brought back long-faded memories. As for those I never knew, I wish I had.
Some of the visitors were boys from William Ellis School. Other places the witches crowd came from are listed below, and then there's just the people we met there!
Boys from William Ellis Grammar School, Gospel Oak, together with our family and other connections. Mostly the 1956-63 cohort.
