How did you hear about the Windsor-area COVID-19 response team? Why did you want to get involved?
I am a volunteer with Volunteers In Action (VIA) and Laura sent an opportunity for another way of helping our community. I like helping people.
What are your volunteer activities with the response team?
I have delivered food from the food shelf to residents. I help with the bus rides that lunches for Windsor students on Fridays. I also started assisting in making sandwiches for the lunches.
How is it going?
I have found being home-bound is very rough on people, and human contact is so appreciated. It’s a joy to see the smiles the students have when they see their bus driver and teachers handing out lunches, and maybe reminding them about homework.
How long have you lived in Windsor and what brought you here?
I have been in Windsor about 40 years. I worked at the hospital.
What helps you cope during the pandemic? Is there anything that lifts your spirits?
Having an attitude of thankfulness. We live in a beautiful state. Spring is here. The birds are migrating, spring flowers are up, grass is getting green. Farmers are working their fields.
