About Us

WIIS-Queen’s is a chapter of Women In International Security Canada and Women In International Security Global. WIIS-Queen’s, and WIIS in general, is a gender-inclusive organization that seeks to promote the advancement of women in the field of international peace and security in all its forms. We recognize that international security is a broad field, which covers combat roles, national policy think tanks, humanitarian aid, technological development, climate campaigns, and more. WIIS uses its extensive network of women in the field to help mentor and guide others toward achieving their goals.

Kaiya Jarvis

Kaiya is currently in her fourth year of Politics. She joined WIIS Queen’s in her first year because she felt it empowered young women such as herself! WIIS encouraged her to utilize an intersectional framework that includes all marginalized groups to analyze the way we interact with the world around us, especially in areas of policy, academia, & the military.

Robyn Kim

Robyn is currently in her fourth year of Life sciences. During Robyn’s time at Queen’s she has wanted to learn about applications of her studies in other areas that she is not taught about in her classes. Robyn thinks WIIS-Queen's is not only a great community of individuals but is a place to learn about the broad topic of international security and how it is different for all women and people.
