What is your late work policy?
I will accept late work for one week after the due date with no grade penalty. After one week late, then the work completed will recieve a passing grade of 60% if it meets minimum assignment requirements. Work not completed is marked as "0" and missing in the gradebook until it is recieved. I will accept late work until the Friday prior to finals week.
What is the independent reading requirement?
Students recieve credit for reading in books of choice. It is 10% of your total grade in the class. To recieve credit for pages read, you should bring your book regularly and complete an informal book talk with me when you have finished the reading. During the extended school closure, you can complete book talks in Flipgrid. You can get class codes for Flipgrid on the resources page of this website or go to teams in Office 365, find the Flipgrid tab at the top of the page, and log in with your student ID there. (Remember to drop the first zero of your student ID.)
Students are required to read 250-500 pages per quarter. To earn an "A" read 500 pages per quarter. The minimum outside reading required for the semester is 500 pages.
You can reach 500 pages with any combination of books. Just make sure to do a book talk for each book you finish reading.
Can I make-up reading pages if I miss the quarter deadline?
Yes, you can make-up reading pages at any time during the semester. Watch for end-of-semester deadlines though! Deadlines for the end of the semester are final. All book talks for the end of the semester are due the Friday prior to finals week.
