Each club from WHS signs up to host a game and hand out candy at this community-wide Halloween party. We set up the booths in our school's cafeteria and commons area and local families are invited to come. This year, we held a drive-through version of the event to accomodate COVID-19 protocols. Our goal is to create a safe and fun environment for families to enjoy as a fun pre-Halloween night.
We host a Thanksgiving food drive and partner with WHS Cheer and Drill Team. Once the food is collected, Student Council members sign up in groups and go to their homes to prepare the meals. After the meals are made, we bring the food to our advisor and she delivers the meals to the families the day before Thanksgiving.
In order to spread holiday spirit, our school participates in the Angel Tree Project. To do this, our class officers spend two weeks collecting money and we put angels on a tree at the front of our school with specific needs written on them in order to give students and staff a chance to directly give. We buy as much as we can with the money the officers have raised. After we have all the gifts, our council has a wrapping party, and after the gifts are wrapped, they are picked up by students at the counseling office.
This year (2019-2020), we provided gifts for 100+ students at WHS.
