We are getting back to the end of the year!  This email will serve as a reminder of what’s coming up in the next few weeks.


BAND BANQUET

There are no printed tickets for this event.  Students and their families will give their names to the Boosters at the door.


SPRING BAND TRIP
REQUIRED TRIP MEETING + CHAPERONE MEETING
Tuesday, April 30
7:00 pm - WGH Cafetorium
Students going on the Spring Band Trip and their families are asked to attend this important meeting for information about packing for the trip as well as rules and regulations to be followed during the trip.  A detailed itinerary will also be provided.


JAZZ TWO

All students involved with Jazz Two meet 3 days a week for rehearsal.

Hello Band Families!

The Band Banquet is scheduled for Sunday, April 28th at 4:00 pm at DiVieste’s Banquet Centre on North River Road.  Ticket sales started today and band members received Band Banquet Ticket Order forms in class. Students and their families are invited to purchase tickets.  All tickets are $28.00, and members of the Class of 2024 will receive a free ticket.  Tickets must be purchased by Friday, April 12th.  

Students and family members have three ways to purchase tickets:

Regardless of payment, a Banquet Ticket Order form MUST be turned in to either Mr. Young or Ms. Sirney.  Band Seniors must also return the form, even if they are only getting their ticket.  

Also - Senior students also received paperwork about the Band Booster Scholarship which is also due Friday, April 12th.  All information and instructions can be found here.

Hello Band Families!

We are getting back to performances this month as well as signing up for rooms, buses, and chaperone groups for the Band Trip.  The band schedule for March is as follows:

For all current Boosters as well as anyone interested in joining the Booster group.  Anyone attending the meeting can park in the back of the school and enter through Entrance D (the band entrance).  A reminder: students should not attend these meetings.

Symphonic Band ONLY
Students in Symphonic Band will be participating in the OMEA Large Group contest after school at Howland High School. Report time is 2:45 pm at WGH, and the performance time is 4:35 pm with sight-reading directly after.  Family and friends are more than welcome to attend the performance portion of this event (no tickets are necessary).    

SPRING BAND TRIP
Friday, May 3, 2024 - Sunday, May 5, 2024
The band will be heading to the Washington D.C. area to participate in the Apple Blossom Festival Parade.  Some things to note:

Jazz Two Signups
This band meets after school three days a week from 2:30-2:55.  There is no bussing for this group; students will need transportation home if they want to participate.  Any student who is interested should see Ms. Sirney.

Hello Band Families!

Once again we are back into the swing of things here in the WGH Band Room and are looking forward to the Spring Semester.  We have several events kicking off the New Year and are asking for help from as many people as possible as we once again are hosting Solo and Ensemble.


SOLO AND ENSEMBLE

Saturday, January 20 @ WGH

WGH is once again hosting the annual OMEA District 5 Solo and Ensemble Event.  Students from high schools in Ashtabula, Mahoning, and Trumbull counties will be coming to compete throughout the entire day, and EVERYONE is needed to help!  If you can work in the morning, in the afternoon, or all day, we will try to accommodate your schedule.  Please click here to sign up to volunteer for this event.


PEPPERONI ROLL FUNDRAISER

Money & Orders Due: Wednesday, January 17

The Pepperoni Roll Fundraiser started last week.  Forms went out to students last week, and an order form is attached to this email.  Anyone with questions can contact Band Booster VP of Fundraising, Leanne Blose.

SPRING BAND TRIP

This year, the band will be heading to the Washington D.C. area to participate in the Apple Blossom Festival Parade.  The trip is open to any student enrolled in a band course at the high school (not just marching band members), and the cost per student is listed at $627.00.  The Band Boosters are working to pay $100.00 for every student attending the trip, and the hope is that the cost to students will only be $527.00.  The tour company, Premier Tour and Travel, has set up a SUGGESTED payment plan:

October 15: $100.00 + any tour protection

November 30: $150.00

DECEMBER 15 - REGISTRATION DEADLINE

January 15: $150.00

March 15: remaining balance due

We are very excited to be heading into the second round of playoffs this Friday. More info about other things happening this month can be found below.

Note the change in date. From now until the remainder of the school year, Booster Meetings will be once a month. FUNDRAISER

Wednesday, November 15 - 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The pie fundraiser pickup will be after school, during parent-teacher conferences. Pies will need to be frozen/refrigerated so please be sure to make arrangements to pick up your order that night.

 



OMEA DISTRICT 5 HIGH SCHOOL HONORS BAND

Ten WGH Raider Band students were selected by audition for the OMEA D5 Honors Band.  These students will be representing Warren City Schools and rehearsing and performing at Stambaugh Auditorium alongside almost 100 other students from Ashtabula, Mahoning, and Trumbull Counties. TUBACHRISTMAS

November 26 - Stambaugh Auditorium

Students who play brass instruments are invited to participate in the annual TubaChristmas event held at Stambaugh Auditorium.  Stambaugh hosts a Christmas Craft Show every year from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm, and part of the show includes a concert in the main hall featuring Tubas and Baritones playing Christmas Carols.  The concert is free and open to the public, and goodwill offerings are accepted.


Interested students should register for the event at the link below and participate in three different rehearsals over the next few weeks.  Practices will be from 2:30 - 3:15 in the WGH Band Room, and the dates are:

Hello WGH Raider Band Families!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone involved with our Senior Night and Band Night festivities!   The Band Boosters are a huge part of what makes the WGH Raider Band program run as well as it does, and we are very thankful to you all.  The marching band season is winding down, but there are still a variety of events that take place throughout the rest of the school year.  It is our goal to keep band families updated about everything on a monthly basis so please take the time to read through the following info.

NO SCHOOL
There will be no school for students on Wednesday, October 4 and Friday, October 13.  We will not have morning band on either day, but students are required to attend the football game on the 13th.


MORNING BAND
As we get closer to the end of the season, Morning Band practices will be adjusted accordingly.  These changes will be put on the band calendar, but for now, we are still running morning band practice every day we have school.

Hello WGH Raider Band Families!

We are obviously in the swing of things with Morning Band as well as Band Nights and Football Games.  Looking forward, we have a lot happening throughout the month of September!

TRIP KICKOFF/BAND BOOSTER MEETING
Tuesday September 19 - 7:00 pm
All band families are invited to the cafeteria on Tuesday the 19th for an informational meeting about the Spring Band Trip to Washington DC.  There will be a presentation from the travel company regarding exact dates, what the students will be doing, and expected costs.  The trip is open to all students enrolled in a Band Class at WGH.

Pepperoni Rolls - Selling NOW!
The Pepperoni Roll Fundraiser Form is attached to this email.  Orders and money are due Friday, September 15, and the delivery date is Wednesday, September 23.  If your student is selling pepperoni rolls, please make arrangements to pickup their order sometime after school on the 23rd.

MINI MAJORETTE & FLAGLINE CLINICS
Tuesday, September 19 & Wednesday, September 20
Students in grades K-8 are welcomed to participate in the Mini Majorette and Flagline clinics and perform with the WGH Raider Marching Band during Band Night on Saturday, September 23.  Registration info and more can be found on the attached flyer.

CLASS OF 2024 SENIOR NIGHT
Friday, September 22
Members of the class of 2024 will be celebrated before the football game.  Paperwork will come out to senior students next week, but please schedule accordingly.  Keep in mind that everyone walking with a student must still purchase a ticket online the week of the game.

WGH BAND NIGHT
Saturday, September 23
Warren G. Harding will host the Liberty, Niles, Champion, and Canfield bands for our annual Band Night.  Pre-sale tickets will be sold to students starting next week, and there will also be tickets available at the door.  Please consider volunteering for Band Night; the Boosters will need multiple people to help with ticket sales and in the concession stand.  FYI: Ticket sales and the concession stand will close before the WGH band performs so everyone will get to see their student on band night!

Hello WGH Raider Band Families!

Congratulations and thank you to all of our students and families for a successful Band Camp week.  We are excited to wrap things up with Summer Band within the next two weeks and start performing for the community. 

BUSING
August 7th - 10th will be the final week of Summer Band bussing.  We DO have practice Monday - Wednesday from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, but the buses will not be running for those three days.

Senior students will be permitted to leave early from Summer Band rehearsal and are invited to the Senior Outing at Echo Lanes on Elm Road.  A room will be reserved for food and bowling and rental shoes will be available as well.  

FRESHMEN ACADEMY
Friday, August 11 - 8:30 am
Freshmen Band students should have registered for Freshmen Academy on Friday of this week.  For students who have NOT registered, they are permitted to simply show up on Friday.  Expect to be at the school from 8:30 am - 1:00 pm to receive a tour of the school, get your schedule, and more!

CANCELLED
MAJORETTE CAR WASH
Saturday, August 12 - noon-2pm
Come and support the majorettes at Dairy Queen on Elm Road.  They will be washing cars and accepting donations as part of their fundraising efforts.

MORNING BAND
Begins the First Week of School
Marching band students will have rehearsal each day, before the school day starts.  There is busing for Morning Band as well, and we will send out the times for those as well as the expected start time of rehearsals once this year's student start time is announced.

Hello Band Families,

We are excited about getting the 2023 edition of the WGH Raider Marching Band kicked off this week!

This message is going out to all potential families as well as those who have already confirmed their student's participation.  If you have not done so yet, please take a brief moment to complete a participation survey by clicking here.

Attached is the Summer Band calendar and the Summer Band Bussing Schedule. Students who are in town are expected to attend all band rehearsals. If your student must miss part or all of a morning rehearsal, we ask that you send both Mr. Young and Ms. Sirney an email. The mandatory Band Camp week starts July 31 and will conclude with a Preview Show on Friday, August 4. All students MUST attend the full week of Band Camp.

INCOMING BAND STUDENTS MAILING

We are reaching out regarding the possibility of your student being part of the Warren G. Harding High School band.  If your student is interested in continuing as a band student, we ask that you take a look at the information listed below.   Also, please take a brief moment to complete a survey by clicking here.   If your student will no longer be part of the band program, please disregard this information.

To All Incoming Warren G. Harding Band Members and Families:

We are extremely excited about your student becoming a new member of the WGH Raider Band as we approach the 2023-2024 school year and are looking forward to your student helping to maintain the high standards that the Warren bands have been known for throughout the years.  We want you to be part of the Warren G. Harding ‘Raider’ Band!!

Please note that any student interested in enrolling in band next year, MUST ATTEND SUMMER REHEARSALS.  The only exceptions are students currently on the roster for football or cheerleading.  These students will be considered “Athletic Band Members” and will start band on the first day of school.  If you are no longer on either of those rosters, YOU MUST ATTEND SUMMER REHEARSALS.

Summer Rehearsals
Summer band for ALL NEW MEMBERS starts on Thursday July 6th from 8:00 am – 12:30 pm at the WGH Band Room.  If you are dropping off your student, please use the front entrance “M” near the main office.  Breakfast and lunch will be served at no cost to all students.  Busing is available for every day of practice.  Please check the band website for locations and times of each bus route.

Warren G. Harding Band Boosters
We will be having our first band booster meeting of the year on Thursday July 6th in the WGH band room.  This meeting will start at 7:00pm.  At this meeting, you can learn about all the different ways that parents are needed to help support the band students throughout the season.

Absences from rehearsal
Attendance of our members is a vital role in the success of our program.  Mr. Young must approve any absences prior to the date of your absence.  Absences are approved through email; be sure to email both Mr. Young and Ms. Sirney.  Please understand zero absences will be approved during the week of “Band Camp” from July 31st – August 4th  

What to bring to the first rehearsal

Transportation
On Thursday July 6th please be on time for rehearsal.  Breakfast will be served at 7:50 a.m. and the shuttle buses will run according to schedule.  The Band Shuttle Schedule will be posted on the band website by July 1.

Final Forms
