Carrot Cake
I’ve always hated carrot cake.
The taste, smell, even the process of making it.
The mess of all the spices, the cleanup,
The shredding of the carrots that cut my fingers.
Yet every year I find myself making it.
“Labor of Love”
These words used to be meaningless to me.
Why would someone do something that they hate,
Just to make someone else happy?
Now as I make carrot cake every year,
I think I understand why...
