Frequently Asked Questions

• What time of day should I schedule my CCP classes for?
  You can schedule them any time, but avoid multiple trips to and from Western. We now recommend students take their GTCC classes in the mornings, if possible. 

• Can I take ALL of my classes through GTCC?
  Yes. Athletes must PASS a minimum of 5 classes per semester to remain eligible.

• When are the drop/add dates? Are they same as Western course selections?
  No, you must follow the GTCC course enrollment and course change deadlines as posted on their website and in your student portal. 

The Application Process

1. Admissions sessions are required for all new students. Because of COVID-19, the recorded admissions session below replaces the required Admissions Meeting.  Please submit a completed application packet with all signatures after viewing the Admissions Session.

Once you and your parent have viewed the Admissions Session:

2. Determine your Career and College Promise Pathway – Write the Pathway name and Code on your Verification Form.  Please refer to the Dual Credit Allowances Document for information on how the high school credits dual courses.  This also shows which GTCC classes are needed for high school requirements.
   
   There are two types of Career and College Promise Pathways:

• • College Transfer Pathways  – GTCC offers nine different college transfer pathways

  • Career/Technical Education Pathways – GTCC offers numerous certificate and diploma programs.

3. Complete Forms in the Application Packet. (Signatures may be obtained by email.)
   
   The Application Packet includes:

    You will need to create an account on CFNC.org.  Please include your social security number on the online application.

  • Supplemental Documents:

    • • • 1. Verification of Student Eligibility Form – Please make sure that you have all signatures required and that you have included the pathway.

          2. Attendance Policy Form

          3. Consent to Release Form - to be completed by the student

          4. General Medial Release Form 

  • Year-End High School Transcript – Please send a copy of your latest transcript with the admissions packet. If you attend a public high school, you may request this through cfnc.org.  Please provide your High School ID # on the Verification Form. If your transcript is in a sealed envelope, you may open it and scan it.

4. Scan your admissions packet and email the documents as attachments using the attach button to ccp@gtcc.edu. Do not copy and paste the documents into the body of the email.

5. Once you have submitted your application packet:

• • Please frequently check the email listed on your application. If something is missing, you will be notified.  After the application is processed, the applicant will receive an email with Titan Account Activation Instructions.

  • After activating your Titan account, please check your GTCC Titan Email daily.  You will receive registration instructions after your application is processed.

  • Once you have registered for classes, you will be sent an email with instructions for our mandatory online CCP Orientation.

Mandatory Online Success Seminar

Every GTCC student interested in registering for one or more online courses MUST complete the Online Success Seminar. This is a mandatory requirement. The seminar is free and is located in Canvas in the “My Courses” list.

Accessing the Online Success Seminar is easy:

1. Go to gtcc.edu

2. Click on the green box at top right

3. Choose Canvas

4. Click the “My Courses” drop-down menu

5. Select “Online Success Seminar” and begin your session

NOTE: A final score of 100% is required to register for online classes.
