Becoming a Trustee on the scout Board of Trustees
What is the role of Trustee Board?
· To make sure that the scout group is run safely and legally
What are the steps to becoming a Trustee?
· We will register you on the online scouting database (Compass)
· We will complete a PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) Disclosure for you (anyone working with children and young people needs this and all scout leaders have one)
· You will sign a trustee declaration (https://www.scouts.org.uk/about-us/policy/volunteer-joining-and-trustee-agreement/)
· You will complete some online learning modules (with a new Trustee Board being set up we will all do this)( https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteers/learning-development-and-awards/training/learners/modules/getting-started-training/trustee-introduction/)
What does being a Trustee involve?
· The Trustee Board is made up of a Chair, with secretary support; Treasurer (Duncan); representatives from Beaver, Cub and Scout sections; and the Lead Volunteer (Jim) in support
· There are two meetings a year, with an Annual General Meeting taking place around October time
· All other business would be done by email/WhatsApp etc.
