Photography and Social Media Policy
We want to advertise just how exciting and rewarding taking part in Scouting activities is. We always look for opportunities to publicise what we do in the local press and media. The ways in which you and your children spread this news is also important.
It is our policy that no photographs or videos of our members, involved in any Group or section activity or event, will be posted publicly by scout leaders online or to social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter.
- not identify children appearing in our publications by name
- ensure children who do not have a signed parent/carer permission form do not appear in our publications
- children and young people must agree to their images being used (in the local press for example) and have a right to request that images be removed
- make sure that parents/carers are aware of this policy upon joining
- only use appropriate images
We are unable to control photographs and videos taken by other parents and carers at Scouting events. We would ask that all parents and carers are sensible when sharing media (particularly on Facebook and Twitter) and follow the guidelines set out in this policy. We would ask that parents and carers do not share images that include other people’s children online.
Please speak to a leader if you are unsure of any of the advice contained in this policy.
