This years Design Challenge is to make a Wrist Watch that is both creative and meets or exceeds the quality of today's brands. After sketching ideas on paper, we are to make a 3D model with the scale of 1:1. Since watches are small with many intricate parts, the design challenge challenged our knowledge and abilities to utilise advanced SolidWorks features. After the model is completed, we render the models in Photoview 360, which produces high quality pictures. At the end of the competition, Mr. Dickie and a board of selected teachers will judge the models based on creativity and function.
My idea for the challenge is to make a pun on time. Since there is a saying of "Time Flies", I want to have plane wings as the minute and hour hands so time literally flies. I also wanted to make the watch lightweight and durable so I made the watch consisting of carbon fibre and chromium.
