Located on the second floor of the complex, The Imagineer’s Workshop is the premier dining location of WED Works.
This unique restaurant is practically an attraction in its own right. Entering the lobby, guests will be able to take in a series of vintage attraction posters, mostly showcasing attractions from the past such as the Peoplemover and Adventures Thru Inner Space, but also including a few that are still around today, including Matterhorn and Pirates of the Caribbean.
The real fun begins as gusts are seated at their tables. Every table features an upright touchscreen monitor as well as touchscreens built into the tables themselves. These screens are programmed with exclusive easy-to-use software that allows guests to put on their Imagineering hats and build their own rides and parks.
The park building program features a collection of established Disney Parks attractions, mostly ones found at Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure, but also a few unexpected additions from Disney Parks around the world, including a few extinct attractions. Guests are able to select attractions from a menu and drag and drop them into place. There are also basic terrain and water tools that allow guests to edit the landscape of their park. The software edits the park’s pathways on its own as guests continue building rides. When the park is complete, guests are able to send it to themselves via email, or they can acquire it via the Disneyland app or Magic Band, where additional functionality is available.
For younger guests, and those young at heart, “blueprint” placemats and nontoxic paint pens are available for guests to flex their artistic talents and design whatever their hearts desire purely by hand.
This theme of “build it yourself” continues into mealtime, as the menu consists entirely of customizable made-to-order items. (The menu has toppings sorted by category, but guests may feel free to add any topping to any entree). All ingredients are grown in California.
The main dining area is well lit, mostly white with accents of light blue, and light pink and features dynamic, free form ornaments are suspended from the angled ceiling. The tables feature comfortable bench style seating, and the tables themselves are anchored to adjacent walls and feature no support structure directly underneath.
In addition, all around the restaurant are numerous animatronic figures in various stages of completion. Among these are a pair of full-size human figures, a stegosaurus, a large spider, and a few that are so unfinished that they are difficult to truly distinguish.
Another highlight of the dining experience is the spectacular view many guests will be able to enjoy overlooking one of the mini golf courses. The entire facility has a feeling of openness and grandeur.
The Imagineer’s Workshop is sure to delight both casual and fervent fans of Disney Parks for years to come.
