Summative Assessments and National Recognition
In 2013, Webster University's TESOL program became the first and only TESOL program to receive national recognition in the state of Missouri from NCATE (also the first and only in the St. Louis and Kansas City metro areas). This recognition was renewed by CAEP in 2020. In 2022, TESOL faculty revised the TESOL curriculum and aligned assessments to the newest TESOL Standards.
During the 2022-2023 academic year, the core set of seven TESOL courses and their final summative assessments all underwent a comprehensive redesign. These courses include a series of formative assessments that prepare TESOL candidates to be successful on the summative assessment. Formative and summative assessments are graded using analytic rubrics that are all programmed into Canvas (Webster University's learning management system).
