After the war ended, Poland found itself behind the so-called iron curtain, and the communists took over the power .
The parliamentary elections in 1989 initiated the processes of democratization and economic reforms that enabled the Third Polish Republic to join NATO (1999) and then the European Union (2004).

about the school
We are a small, old school of 186 students and 30 teachers situated in a suburb of Częstochowa - a small, quiet city where millions of pilgrims come to every summer to see the Holly Marry Picture in Jasna Góra Monastery. The school is situated in one building, there is also a quite big new gym, a new playground and a lot of space to do sports. Our children are in a very disadvantaged situation because the region they live is very poor, a lot of parents are unemployed and there are also some students coming from problematic families. We have many children with only one parent, or with parents who work abroad. There are also some Roma children who are still somehow excluded from the rest of the group. But the most demanding group in our school are children with special needs who are taught in the same classes with healthy students. School is open to children with almost all disabilities, we specialise in teaching students with autism, Asperger syndrome, Down syndrome, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), mental subnormalities, hearing loss, eyesight loss, spastic paralysis, etc. All our students need special attention, special methods and a lot of patience from teachers and their healthy peers.
