Idea:

• I decided to try my hand at a logo design. Some of my favorite logos I've seen recently are Flat-Art, which I think is an attention grabbing simplistic design that I really enjoy.

Process:

• I used the knowledge we've learned in Photoshop, and applied it to Adobe Illustrator to make a vector based graphic, instead of pixel based. I discovered that the two programs really work hand-in-hand as the tools are either passed through the two programs or are remarkably similar. I made a new document within Illustrator, and then used the layer concepts, along with the line tool and the knowledge we learned about line anchor points to create my objects.

Design:

Contrast: Some of my favorite aspects about flat-art graphic styles is the bold solid usage of color. In my logo, I decided I liked the cool playful tones of blue and yellow that compliment and contrast one another. Also, another admirable aspect of flat-art is the contrast between rounded and square edges.

Alignment: Seeing as I wanted the logo to be encased by a circle, I made everything center aligned.

Proximity: I wanted my objects, the laptop and mason jar with the flowers, to be super close to one another in the center of the design. Then, below it, a bit of negative space and a title.

Color: With the usage of bold blues, greens, and yellows, I wanted the background to be the darkest of all the colors in order to anchor the design.
