Task:

• Create an attention-getting digital display for Utah State University that will inform students of an upcoming deadline for next semester - Spring 2020. This will be due November 25th, so be sure to choose a deadline that falls after November 30th.
• It must be well designed, easy to read within 20 seconds of display time.
• It must be 1920 pixels wide by 1080 pixels tall at 72 dots per inch

Idea:

I thought a simple Tuition, Fee Payment Deadline message would be good. I looked for other deadlines throughout the Spring 2020 semester, and felt that this topic would be simpler to convey.

Process:

I first made a Photoshop document with the given proportions. Then, I found an image off the Aggie 'A' alongside some idea forming spring flowers. I also investigated Spring 2020 deadlines and wrote text accordingly. Next, I looked up what fonts, colors, and other design details that USU continuously uses at this link.

Design:

Contrast: The blurring background with the sharp text contrasts and draws the eye towards the text details on the graphics. I also used white text alongside the 'Aggie Blue' text color, which are two very contrasting yet complimenting shades.

Alignment: I found an image that specifically had points of interest in the off-center left and off-center right of the image. I purposefully placed the deadline date between the two, made the alignment on the bottom with the logo and the Spring 2020 title opposite of each other to compliment the placement of the date.

Colors: I intentionally found an image that was more bright and spring-like for the background of the display.

Typography: While researching commonly used fonts for USU graphic displays I found and utilized these fonts:

• Helvetica Neue
• Arial
• Cambria
