Worcestershire Disability Football Club (WDFC) was established in 2004 by Derek Cunningham and Dave Alban after recognising that there were limited opportunities in the local area for their sons to play football.
The club was created with a simple aim: to provide children with disabilities and additional needs the opportunity to enjoy football, develop skills and be part of a team. Starting with a small junior section, WDFC has continued to grow and develop over the years, creating more opportunities for players of all ages and abilities.
From our original junior teams, we have expanded to include adult pan-disability football and Powerchair Football, providing pathways for players to continue their football journey from childhood into adulthood.
Today, WDFC supports over 100 members across our different sections and continues to go from strength to strength. We are a completely volunteer-led club, supported by a dedicated team of more than 30 volunteers who give their time to provide safe, inclusive and enjoyable football opportunities for our players.
Our club is built around community, inclusion and the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the benefits of football. We are proud of the positive impact WDFC has on players, families and the wider Worcestershire community, helping people build confidence, friendships and a lifelong love of the game.
From our first junior sessions in 2004 to the thriving inclusive football club we are today, our journey has always been about creating opportunities and making football accessible for everyone.
