Show jumping is part of the English riding classes held at the World Championships. The classes are held over a course of obstacles, including verticals, spreads, and double and triple combinations, with the intent to jump cleanly over a set course within an allotted time. The final result will be affected by both the finishing time and the fault points gathered over the course. Time faults are assessed for exceeding the time allowance; jumping faults are incurred for knockdowns and blatant disobedience, such as refusals (which there are a limited number allowed before being disqualified).
