The Wolfville Curling Club’s goal is to foster active, healthy living through recreation. This revitalization project will provide easy and safe access to the curling facilities for persons with disabilities and for persons who have mobility issues. Currently a wheelchair curler would need to be assisted through the equipment entrance and workshop to gain access to the curling ice and main lounge. Making the ice surface accessible and barrier free is our goal.
To make our facility a green and inclusive community building the tasks in this third year of this revitalization project will include:
· Building a ramp to the main door
· Replacing the main door with a fully automated, accessible door
· Rebuilding washrooms to be gender neutral and accessibile.
· Rebuilding the corridors and interior doors
· Replacing the second storey emergency exit stairs.
The Year 3 Accessibility activities took place during April to September 2024 in time for the start of the 2024-25 curling season.
