Energy Efficiency Year 2 - 2023

Revitalization Year 2 (2023) Energy Efficiency

Efficiency Nova Scotia evaluated our clubhouse and identified a number of ways that we could reduce the costs of energy. Currently over 35% of our annual budget goes to electricity and oil. And both of these costs are going up substantially.

In the summer of 20123 we gutted the upstairs walls and installed R24 insulation. We blew insulation into the attic to raise that space to R50. We tore out the large wooden, single pane window on the north side of the building and replaced it with two, smaller, energy efficient windows.

We installed heat pumps in the upstairs lounge, the kitchen, the rental meeting room and the two downstairs locker rooms. We also replaced the oil furnace with a propane water heater to provide domestic hot water.

Looking ahead to Year 3 Accessibility we hired an architect to develop plans for making our club accessibility to all.
