Definitions
Fund – The fund is capital that is set aside for a specific purpose, and expected to continue in perpetuity, regardless of changing board, administration, and committee structures. It is not intended that the money should be invested and remain untouched. The fund is kept in a ring-fenced account by the EBL and is used only for the purposes defined.
Fund's Capital - set for the term of the EC
Purpose
The fund was established to promote and develop Women's Bridge in Europe, for example:
Recruitment of new female players,
Providing more training opportunities for competitive female players, or
Any project that is aimed at promoting women’s bridge, or that benefits female bridge players.
Fund Managers
The WBC and the EBL's EC will try to secure new income for the fund.
The WBC oversees the WF and will manage it.
The WBC's chair will also serve as the chair of the WF
The WBC will report annually to the EBL EC on the status of the fund.
Responsibilities
The WBC is responsible for promoting the WF to potential applicants.
The WBC is in charge of creating the application mechanism.
The EC / President / WBC are responsible for approving or denying applications.
The WBC is responsible for deciding on the sum to be granted and will inform the Treasurer.
Meetings
WF meetings will be convened by the WF Chair.
The WF committee will meet at least twice a year.
The WF committee will do its best to expedite requests within a period of 6 weeks from after the deadline.
Meetings can be held face to face or electronically.
The EBL President and Treasurer are invited to attend and speak at WF meetings.
Applications
Application deadlines will be May 15th and September 15th.
Applications will be submitted electronically.
Payments
If the application is approved, a payment should be made to the applicant no later than one month from the approval date.
An application can receive a maximum payment of €2,000 annually.
Who can apply
Individuals (e.g – female players, members of EBL),
Groups (e.g – women teams or women’s organizations, members of EBL), and
NBOs – members of the EBL.
Priorities
The same person/group can apply for and receive funds in both annual application rounds, but not for the same initiative/project.
Applicants who demonstrate the ability and willingness to co-fund a project, will be granted priority.
Applicants who have not received funds before will be granted priority.
The WBC reserves the right to priorities applications according to merit and the EBL's goals.
Equality principle in allocation
Any financial support given should be perceived as fair.
When several similar applications are received, the managers of the WF will set a fixed sum that will be equally allocated to the applicants.
When a fixed sum is awarded, the sum can be adjusted up or down at the committee's discretion.
