It’s time for the annual WEB Fun Run, and we are switching things up this year!
Due to limitations on gatherings and staffing, we are going VIRTUAL! Students are encouraged to participate outside of school time with friends or family members between September 21st and October 9th.
WEB challenges students to complete laps at the Kern Track equal to their grade, So, K/1st graders one lap up to 6 laps for 6th graders (That’s 1.5 miles!)
The funds collected will go to WEB to support Wayne Elementary School in a variety of ways. WEB hosts fun events like our dances, brings in special guest speakers like Dean Jacobs, buys classroom supplies and books, and shows recognition for students and staff. This year they even purchased reusable face masks for all students and staff.
We understand that all families have been impacted during the pandemic, but even the smallest amount makes a difference and all students who participate will be entered into a drawing for a Wayne Family Fun prize with gift cards to local businesses worth $100!!
Our top 3 fundraisers will receive the following prizes:
1) A 12 month Family Membership to the Wayne Activity Center
2) A new bike donated by ACE Hardware & Home
3) A Wayne Elementary Lil’ Blue Fleece Blanket

Thank you all for your support of a fantastic Fun Run. Over 200 students raised $6,500, breaking all records in our 5-year history and beating our event goal. That’s also a student participation rate of 45%, much higher than ever before. Pledges may still trickle in so we will announce prize winners at the next school assembly.
Special thanks to Wayne State College for the popular new water bottles, and to all our volunteers, including students from WSC Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Soccer, Cross Country, and Track & Field; WEB parents; and school staff. We are grateful for the smooth transition from the track to inside the school just before the rain came. As always, we thank Mr. Hoskins for his terrific help running the activities.
