Upcoming events: 2024/2025

Below is a list of adventures that WayFinders from 2023/2024 came up with and will be leading this year. While most are still in the planning process, we have dates for some events!

For adventures that are open to non-WayFinders, be sure to look here for an Interest List when we post one, so that you're updated with info as we have it. There will most likely be a limited number of non-WayFinder spots, so be sure to fill out the Interest List as soon as possible.

November 8 - 10: Anza Borrego Camping trip

Open to non-WayFinders. Interest List (with deposit) forming soon.

January 11: Snowshoeing

March 21 - 23: Climbing trip to Joshua Tree

Open to non-WayFinders. Interest List (with deposit) forming soon.

May 23 - 25: Backpacking Trip

End of the Year Party (June)

We closed out the year with a potluck and archery

Catalina Island (Apr)

The scouts planned an awesome weekend of high adventure on Catalina! We took the ferry over Friday afternoon. On Saturday, we did a zipline eco-tour, and then some of the scouts did a snorkel tour off of the Casino.

Backpacking @ Crystal Cove State Park (Feb)

We had a beautiful weekend backpacking, exploring & tidepooling.

Canoeing on the Colorado River (Nov)

After Thanksgiving, the WayFinders were on the road to Arizona for a whirlwind canoeing trip!

AdventureQuest! Nov 17-10

Nearly 50 people attended our first AdventureQuest, which focused on the Outdoor Journey for C/S/A levels. Despite the rain at Winacka on Friday night, the rest of the weekend was beautiful!

Coastal Cleanup & Kayak/Snorkel (Sept)

Once again, WayFinders participated in the annual Coastal Cleanup. This year, we invited non-WayFinders to attend. Afterwards, we went on a kayak & snorkel tour of the La Jolla Cove caves. It was spectacular!

Back-to-Troop! (Aug)

This year, we started the year off with an ice cream social. What a sweet begining to a year of adventures!

Past events: 2022/2023

"Climb-On" - into Summer! 6/11

We celebrated our first year as WayFinders by hosting a climbing event. We invited scouts from other troops, as well as non-Girl Scouts. After learning some climbing techniques, we did a couple of routes and a fun crate stacking activity.

"Spring Backpacking" 5/6 - 5/7

A quick overnight backpack up the treacherous road to Barker Valley Spur Trailhead. After an easy hike down to the West Fork of the San Luis Rey River, we arrived at a beautiful meadow and had a great time exploring the river. It was gushing from all the rain we had!

"Intro Backpacking" (Cuyamaca Rancho SP) 11/10 - 11/12

A 2-night trip to the Cuyamacas. We had a few new backpackers - along with some seasoned Youth Leaders from the GSSD Backpacking program.

"Clean Up & Paddle On" 9/17/22

After participating in the 38th annual Coastal Cleanup, we had lunch and took to the water! We rented stand-up paddle boards and kayaks from Aqua Adventures (& some brought their own vessels) and went paddling on Mission Bay, as an introduction to the Senior Paddling badge.
