Training and courses

Waveney Beekeepers run beginners courses each spring.

The courses take place at Grange Farm, Barsham and consist of 5 Tuesday / Thursday evening and 1 Saturday morning sessions of 1.5 hours and cover all the basic information required for new bee keepers.

Detailed notes will accompany a power point presentation of the basics of beekeeping along with some practical participation in hive and frame assembly and maintenance.

There are weekly Sunday surgeries held at the Group's apiary on Sunday mornings during the main Beekeeping season and you are encouraged to attend these in order to watch, at close quarters, the hives being inspected by an experienced beekeeper from the club. The club can provide protective bee suits and gloves to fit all sizes.

This is the best way to become relaxed at the hive and learn the basic techniques of beekeeping.
