Model Windmills, Watermills & related models made by Vic Newey, Worcestershire, England,This website shows a set of 18 scale model watermills & windmills and related models, all of which are on permanent display at Bishops Lydeard Mill & Museum in Somerset. The mill has been painstakingly and precisely restored by the Back Family over many years. The Mill and the attached Mill House have been cited as places of historical interest and given a Grade 2 conservation listing. The aim of the project was to preserve a small piece of history in the picturesque village of Bishops Lydeard whilst also helping to shape the future into a better one for less fortunate people. **** Five charities receive all the proceeds and donations raised by patrons of the mill****. Below: A former undershot grain mill converted to a powder mill, used to grind the ingredients for gunpowder, Explosions were frequent and the mills often had weak roofs or walls which could easily be repaired in the event of a disaster. Note corrugated iron roof sheets were invented in 1829!
