Wario's Woods

Hidden from the excitement of the Mushroom Kingdom lies a quaint little forest community called Peaceful Woods. The Toads who lived there were simple folk - farming, raising families, and generally reveling in their seclusion. However, Peaceful Woods held a secret. Hidden in nearby Mount Ghastly was a mine bursting with gold. And at the heart of the mountain, according to legend, stood the lost city of El Toadado - a city of vast, unimaginable riches. Of course this would attract would-be Treasure Hunters.

One peaceful day, the Toads received a surprising, and unwelcome, visitor - Wario. As the Toads lived their lives as they did on any other day, Wario burst in and immediately began to ransack the town for all it was worth. With surprising speed he ran from house to house, turning each upside down as he frantically looted and destroyed their precious belongings. The terrified Toads watched in horror as each of their houses was emptied. Finally, it stopped. A large pile of pilfered goods, food, and mushroom furniture stood in the once-beautiful town square. Wario looked satisfied as he sat atop the pile and began to eat a raw garlic bulb. The Toads looked on, now more confused than anything. Realizing his mistake, Wario looked at the cowering villagers and through large bites of garlic simply told them to SCRAM. As the Toads left their former home, one of them happily said:

Wow, it’s a good thing no one told him about the hidden treasure.

Wario’s eyes widened.

Before Wario took up shop here, the former Peaceful Woods was known as a Toad Town that was one with nature. Even nowadays, the now dubbed "Wario's Woods" (as stated by the hastily painted sign) still retains some of that charm, with buildings built into trees and literal mushroom houses.

Key word being "some."

Once Wario found out about the treasure, he immediately began extensive overhauls to the town with the (reluctant) help of his friends/employees to better suit his treasure hunting needs. Now practically every building has pieces of angular, yellow and purple machinery jutting out of it, with very little rhyme or reason for aesthetics. Most of it is to help keep Wario's stuff locked up, but just from a glance one can tell that the install was done so cheaply that anyone could be able take some treasure for their own *hint hint*.

Of course, Wario isn't all about business. No, he's also about self-promotion. Images of him and his emblem liter the place like leaves. He even placed a statue of himself in the town square, made of solid GOLD...-colored plastic. His friends have also made their own, more tactful additions to the town, albeit smaller scale (because working for Wario does not give you that much of a budget). Jimmy T. made a small stage, Dribble and Spitz made a stop for their space taxi, Kat and Ana made a ninja training ground... heck, even Ashley chipped in by fencing off a space for a graveyard! (Don't worry, there hasn't been a need for it... yet.)

All in all, it should be clear to all that Wario and crew are here to stay... whether anyone likes it or not.
