Angelic Warden (Large) Bartering Interdimensional Warrior
Habitats: Redwoods, Tundra, Desert, Swamp
Territorial: No
Diet: Scavenged Meat
Nesting Season: Winter, Summer
Nesting Grounds: Carcass Spawns
Solo creature
Important Notes:
-DROWSY AREA: Use to eat/steal food if bargaining doesn’t work, get creative with your food-obtaining methods :)
-Random bouts of aggression/attack (don’t chase) nearby creatures during rare seasons and disasters
-Only steal carcasses if starving/about to starve
Description: A creation whose sole purpose is to cleanse Sonaria of its evils, Angelic Wardens are beings of pure divinity. A multitude of eyes cover its body, fine-tuned to see not just a wider range of light waves, but to see into another dimension attempting to take over Sonaria, called the Between. The Between is a separate dimension completely invisible to Sonarian inhabitants, incubating and housing incomprehensible beings whose only goal is to break into Sonaria and harvest all of its resources. Angelic Warden’s jobs are to exterminate these beings before they become too powerful, clashing in powerful battles that, to other creatures, looks like the Angelic Warden is fighting nothing. During these battles, Angelic Wardens become extremely aggressive to nearby Sonarian creatures, seeing them as ‘tainted’ by the Between and needing to be exterminated. Because of this, a restrictor was added, severely lowering the Angelic’s damage against natural Sonarian beings, though this restrictor can be negated if they are severely wounded.
Behavior: Because of Angelic’s interdimensional battles being the one thing preventing Sonaria from being overtaken, they have gained something similar to a God Complex, believing that they are the most important creatures in all of Sonaria. Due to their damage mitigator, Angelic Wardens rely almost entirely on scavenging to get by, and use tactics of bargaining and manipulation to get their food. These Wardens will approach something that has just hunted down a meal, and politely ask for a share. If they refuse, Serphelius will continue to barter, claiming that they’d be helping save Sonaria and if they don’t comply, their soul will be cast into the Between after death, leading to an eternity of suffering that could easily be avoided by sharing. If the creature still refuses, the Serphelius will either leave in a sour mood with a grudge, or emit a chemical cloud of Anesthesia to temporarily stun the creature, letting the Serphelius eat a portion, or if starving, steal the carcass entirely. If bartering doesn’t work, Serphelius will sometimes find another target and inform them that the previous creature was trash talking them. These claims usually lead to the second target leaving to confront the first, leaving their food unguarded for the Serphelius to feast on.
Reproduction: During the Winter and Summer, Serphelius compress Divine Light to create their eggs. These eggs are deposited inside outcroppings of carcasses, so that when the infant(s) hatch, they will be able to live comfortably with a steady supply of food until they become Adolescents and leave the area.

Ardor Warden (Enormous) The Solemn Caregiver

Nesting Grounds: N/A

-Cannot nest

-Won’t scare away & will happily converse with Verdants & Creatures it has raised that visit it (+ Will protect the Verdants)
-When it’s body dies it is reborn and retains full memory of it past life/lives
Description: The Ardor warden is a large mysterious beast that is the only one of its kind. It is a completely genderless being, and is unable to bear any young of its own. It’s cursed to be reborn anew whenever its body dies; it retains full memory of its past lives and past friends.
Behavior: The Ardor warden spends most of its time alone, within a large den it has claimed as its own. It doesn't dislike other creatures, it just hates to grow attached to them, for it makes it much more painful when the Ardor eventually outlives them all. Those that enter its den will be met with intimidating snarls from the Ardor before swiftly being pushed or carried out. The Ardor exclusively feeds on plants, and spends much of its time foraging and storing food within its den. Strangely, the Ardor tends to melt at the sight of young creatures that have seemingly been abandoned by their parents, and it can’t help but take them in and care for them. Though it will provide the creature with food, company, and shelter, unless said creature is a Verdant, it will not protect them in the event they’re attacked. When the creature it is raising becomes an adult the Ardor will cease its care for it, forcing the creature to live on its own. Despite this, it feels very happy whenever it is visited by those that it has cared for and will openly converse with them for a short time. If it hears of or sees the death of a creature it raised it will often grow sad and grieve for a short while.
Curse of love: The Ardor despises being reborn, and would rather cease existing entirely if it meant it could forget all the pain it has experienced. Simply put, when its body can no longer carry on, the flower on its back will glow brightly and become a ball of light. This light will eventually fade revealing the Ardor’s new body, starting its cycle anew, albeit with full memory of all its past lives and experiences intact.
Verdant & Oxy: The Ardor was close friends with the first Verdant, and at the time was unaware of the pact shared amongst the other wardens, unaware the others would die. When its friend died the Ardor grew so very depressed, and grieved until it succumbed to starvation. Once it had reformed it vowed to itself to protect, care for, and listen to the stories of all of the Verdants descendants, willing to bear the pain of growing attached to and grieving every single one. “
Forbye, while it has not vowed to protect them like it has the Verdants, the Ardor is friendly to all Oxytalis it meets, for they are all that's been left of their old friend… Despite this, being in their company tends to remind it of its eternal grief, sending it into a deeper depressive state.

Verdant Warden (Large) Kind Traveler
Habitats: Flower Cove, Jungle, Redwoods, Swamp
Territorial: No
Diet: Plants
Nesting Season: Any
Nesting Grounds: Any
Solo creature
Important Notes:
-AREA FOOD RESTORE: Use when finding empty berry bushes
-HEALING PULSE: Use after battle
-MUD PILE: Use at any time
-WARDEN’S RAGE: Do not use (active version)
-Flee in danger or when conflict is near
-Male Verdants may be adopted into herbivore packs
Description: The Verdant Warden is an ancient species intrinsically tied with nature and the season of Spring. It is a tall beast with eight limbs, curly fur, and blossoming antlers, alongside its signature floating mask all wardens are known to have. Its face is distinctly rabbit-like. While there are multiple Verdant Wardens, the vast majority are female. The species reproduces asexually and follows the Warden Pact, with all of its memories passed from mother to daughter. Flowers bloom in its footprints.
Behavior: The Verdant Warden is a nomadic beast who ventures across Sonaria, often thought of as bringing luck and prosperity wherever it goes. The beast rarely stops in one place for too long, only pausing to rest and chat with others. It collects small trinkets like flowers and pebbles only to give them to other creatures later. It remembers every creature it encounters on its journeys; if it happens to find the same pack or one of its members is missing, the Verdant Warden will grieve for it. It is known to help guide others to food, even carnivores. As a result, it is rarely attacked out of gratitude, but if it is threatened, it will flee for as long as it can unless running is useless from the start. While it is the female’s duty to reproduce and keep the species alive, males devote themselves to other activities as a form of self-fulfillment. Male Verdants are adopted into Medium+ herbivore packs to help raise younglings and forage food for them.
Pact of the Wardens: All Warden species applicable to this pact are asexual, and will have children until a female heir has hatched. When a female heir becomes an adult, the parent will take their life, repeating the cycle. A mother Verdant Warden’s body shuts down upon its female successor becoming an adult and disintegrates into a flurry of flower petals.
Ardor Warden: The Ardor Warden and Verdant Warden are close companions. The Verdant Warden often visits its friend on its travels, the two sharing stories and resting together before the Verdant Warden departs. Unlike Verdant, only one Ardor Warden exists, its soul rebirthing itself into a young body upon passing. Even if a newly-born Verdant Warden does not know or seek out the Ardor Warden, the two are intrinsically drawn together and are bound to meet. This natural bond began when the first Verdant met Ardor and learned about its immortality. The first Verdant died out of overwhelming sadness towards Ardors life, creating the beautiful monstrosity known as Oxytalis.
