Dr. Dina Sevayega


After completing doctoral studies at Indiana University, she became an Associate in the Bureau of Professional Career Opportunity Programs, in the New York State Education Department and later served as an Associate in the Office of College and University Evaluation.  In this position she was responsible for reviewing academic proposals, leading to college degrees, submitted by  colleges and universities across the state of New York. After working for 27 years, Dr. Dina M. Sevayega  retired from her position at the New York State Education Department (NYSED). During this time, she also attended and participated in national accreditation visits throughout New York and conducted several reviews  of higher education institutions   planning to operate in the state of New York. Prior to this role, Dr. Dina Sevayega began her career teaching Spanish and Business Education with the Columbus Board of Education in 1964, remaining in this position for three years before transferring to the Youngstown Board of Education from 1967 to 1976. 



Active in her local community and global initiatives, Dr. Sevayega has served as treasurer on the board of directors of the Wellness Alliance Foundation since 2015, which provides emergency and educational financial relief to migrant farmworkers, immigrants, refugees, low income individuals and their families. Additionally, she was a member of the New York Higher Education Support Center for Systems Change, a former initiative of the P-12 Office of Special Education within NYSED. It helped plan and implement quality inclusive teacher preparation programs at colleges and universities in New York state and helped engage in and support professional development in selected high needs schools.
