Don't be Afraid of the Dark!

Step into the eerie moonlit trails of Avis Dam this Halloween at Dark Dam – a spine-tingling night trail run organised by the Wednesday Social Running Crew (WSRC). 

Taking place on Friday, 31 October 2025, this unique event blends fitness with fright as runners take on either a 7km or 15km course through rocky tracks, river sand, and winding bush paths — all in the dark. The event starts at 18:00, and you’ll need a headlamp or light to guide your way past whispering trees, wavy grass and shadowy bends. Reflective markers will keep you on track, and a water station will help you recharge.

Whether you’re aiming to conquer the 15km✳ (experienced runners only) or just want to enjoy the 7km✳✳ with friends, everyone is welcome (just be ready for a true trail experience!). And good news for the whole family - there is also a 3km route especially for the kiddies and those who are not quite ready for the longer distances yet. 

Costumes are optional but highly encouraged — you might just win a few spooky stares. While this is a self-timed event, there’s no shortage of thrill, fun, and camaraderie.

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, and while dogs must sit this one out, supporters are welcome to cheer from Eagles Beer Garden — the start and finish hub, where food and drink specials will be flowing all evening. Parking is also available at Eagles, and there will be security and marshals from our sponsor Xiphos Protection Group on the routes to ensure everyone’s safety out on the trails.
